National Congress of the French Society for the Study and Treatment of Pain

The French Society for the Study and Treatment of Pain (SFETD) is the French chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). With more than 1,600 members, it is one of the largest chapters. It is also a member of the European Federation of IASP Chapters (EFIC). The SFETD’s mission is to bring together healthcare professionals to promote education, research, and care in the field of pain. Its goal is to foster a multidisciplinary approach and to serve as a bridge between basic researchers and clinicians. Thirty-seven medical specialties are represented within the SFETD; pain management is a team effort that addresses all aspects of a patient’s condition. The Society also brings together dentists, surgeons, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, and basic researchers in biomedicine, as well as in the humanities and legal sciences. It is the leading scholarly society on “Pain” recognized by the Ministry of Health and the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS), with which it collaborates to improve pain management in France.
